Memorial Day at The Texas Pool

Swimming, live music, and some great All-American food are Memorial Day favorites and Plano can check all those boxes! Order barbecue and save time and stress by picking up some juicy brisket and lip-licking ribs from one of these Plano BBQ joints.

Stay cool Memorial Day weekend by visiting one of Plano’s indoor and outdoor pool locations: Carpenter Park Recreation Center (indoor), Jack Carter Pool (outdoor), Liberty Recreation Center (outdoor), Oak Point Recreation Center (outdoor; indoor pool will be closed May 8-May 27 for repairs), Plano Aquatic Center (indoor pool and outdoor splash pad), and Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center (indoor/outdoor). Admission to the pools is included in Plano Recreation Center memberships. Non-members and guests can pay a minimal daily admission fee at each pool. Outdoor pools will be open Sunday, May 27 through August 6. Check individual rec center pages for hours of operation.

Lux Resort-style pool and cabanas

The Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West’s third floor oasis includes a heated rooftop swimming pool + spa, with large, resort-style umbrellas along the perimeter. Complete with a bar and grill, it’s easy to lose track of time. Looking for more fun? Secure your space with a cabana rental. Available for reservations through Resort Pass or directly at the hotel, these cabanas allow you to stay shady all summer.

Memorial Day weekend events include a pool-side DJ on May 27 and May 28 from 2pm-5pm.

Memorial Day at The Texas Pool

On Monday, May 29 from 12pm-6pm come celebrate freedom and honor America’s fallen heroes with a celebration at the Historic Texas Pool. Learn about Memorial Day with the National Moment of Remembrance at 3pm. Local performers, food trucks and snack bar, picnic areas and grills will be available. There will also be traditional pool games and a cannonball contest. Camp chairs, canopies, and coolers (non-alcoholic beverages) are welcome. Entry fee is $10/person; Texas Pool members get in FREE with no wait.

Boots & BBQ Fest at Legacy Hall

Legacy Hall is going big for Memorial Weekend on Sunday with ALL DAY country music, craft beer and darn good BBQ!

Sunset at Memorial Park

On Monday, May 29, let’s gather as a community for the Sunset at Memorial Park Memorial Day Ceremony, honoring military service members lost while serving our country. The 45-minute program begins at 7pm with the posting of the colors, the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. After the invocation and proclamation, the names of the Plano veterans lost in service will be read. Once the U.S. flag is folded and passed, a 21-gun salute and TAPS will close the ceremony. This free event is presented by American Legion Harding-Blaine Post 321 and Casey Joyce All-America VFW Post 4380.
