Breweries, zip lining, nightlife. It’s All Here. If you’re planning a guy’s weekend trip, we’ve outlined a fun and adventurous itinerary showcasing all there is to see and do in Plano with your best guy-tribe.
Day 1
Start the day off with a workout + tons of fun and laughs at Go Ape at Oak Point Park. More than just a canopy tour, the course is made up of numerous rope ladders and 39 exciting crossings including two Tarzan swings and five zip lines. If being on the water is more your style, bring your own canoe, paddle board, or kayak and set out on the lake for an adventure.
All that work – now you need lunch! Make the short drive over to the Downtown Plano Arts District where you will find a little bit of everything from Austrian and Mexican to pizza and BBQ.
After your morning work-out, don’t you want some manly pampering? After a quick refresh at your hotel, head over to The Boardroom Salon for Men at The Shops at Legacy or at Lakeside Market for a little TLC. Here you and your buds can get cuts, shaves, facials, hand & foot grooming, and brow waxing.
Or at Legacy West, there’s Taper + Tap offering similar services and craft brews from Unlawful Assembly next door at Legacy Hall (more about them later).
At The Shops at Legacy you’re in for a fun afternoon. Start with happy hour at Mexican Sugar and cross the street for an amazing steak dinner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse. The Shops at Legacy can also be your post-dinner hangout at RA Sushi, Ebb & Flow, Bottle Rockets, Cru, Ringo’s Pub, and Scruffy Duffies.
Day 2
Wake up and grab a cup of coffee before hitting the fairway! Plano has three public golf courses: The Courses at Watters Creek, Pecan Hollow, and Ridgeview Ranch.
Next up: take a Plano brew tour and grab some lunch.
Union Bear is a brewery and restaurant concept inspired by a West Coast casual beer approach fused with local roots in North TX. The space is driven by a signature line of craft beers and complemented by an extensive bar offering and menu of approachable, chef-driven plates. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating and access to the Boardwalk with great views of the water from the back patio.
Be sure to play a few rounds of corn hole on the Boardwalk.
Unlawful Assembly on the third floor at Legacy Hall features classic pub fare and 21 operating tanks used to crank out its portfolio of premium year-round beers, along with a rotating tap selection of highly creative, collaborative and seasonal beers. Comedic brewery tours are available every Saturday from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Each tour costs $15 per participant and includes a limited release Unlawful Assembly beer glass, and two complimentary beers. No RSVP or pre-registration necessary.
Grab your food and stake out a table in the outdoor Box Garden. There’s usually always something going on in the weekends from unique interactive events to free live music.
Day 3
Set out and explore again, this time at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, a 200-acre park with hike and bike trails, a 2-mile walking trail and amazing views of the prairie and forest.
It’s brunch-o-clock and The District at Willow Bend has several options to make one of your last meals in Plano – far from plain. From fried chicken and homemade biscuits at Whistle Britches to a Mexican fiesta at Mexican Bar Co.
Make one last stop before you head back home at the only in-theater hyper-reality experience in Texas. Cinemark has partnered with The VOID to allow visitors to virtually step into their favorite movie and play an active role in the plot. By strapping on a vest, helmet and virtual reality goggles, be transported to a new world where you can hear, feel, smell and see what it would be like to actually be in the movie.
