Mark ThompsonMark Thompson Earns CDME Designation
Mark Thompson, Director of Visit Plano, has earned the prestigious Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) designation. Thompson was recognized along with some 40 other graduates at the 2016 Annual Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) convention on August 3rd in Minneapolis, MN. 

DMAI is recognized as a leader in the destination marketing industry and is dedicated to the professional development of its leadership. As the industry’s highest educational achievement, the Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) program seeks to enhance business acumen through an integrated executive program specifically designed for the destination marketing industry.

To earn the certification, Thompson completed a rigorous curriculum developed to advance thought leadership and management competencies among experienced destination marketing professionals. The content covered helps candidates adapt to and more effectively manage increasing change and competition.

Millerann MoyaMillerann Moya & Shane Sorenson Receive TDM Credentials
Visit Plano’s Marketing Manager Millerann Moya and Convention Servicing and Group Housing Coordinator Shane Sorenson have earned the esteemed Texas Destination Marketer (TDM) credential.  Both award recipients were honored at the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureau’s (TACVB) Annual Conference in El Paso, TX on August 18.

Shane SorensonThe TDM designation recognizes excellence in the convention and visitor bureau industry. The Texas Destination Marketing Certificate program offers industry professionals an educational framework for marketing Texas as a destination for both tourism and group business. The program includes eight areas of knowledge, including Texas heritage/cultural tourism, administration/finance, communications/technology, group sales, group servicing, marketing, tourism sales and visitor services. Once a professional achieves an area of knowledge by completing 27 credits, he or she receives a certificate of completion. To achieve TDM designation, program participants must complete six of the eight areas of knowledge.

Jessica MarbutJessica Marbut Earns CMP Credential
Jessica Marbut, Director of Sales for Plano Centre, has earned the prestigious Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential. 

The CMP program was established in 1985 by the Convention Industry Council (CIC). The CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the meeting, convention, exhibition and event industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education and a rigorous exam.
