Marisa Obando Receives Texas Trailblazer Award
We are thrilled to celebrate Visit Plano Sales Manager, Marisa Obando, who was presented with the highly esteemed Texas Trailblazer Award. This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Texas tourism industry in a short amount of time and who exemplifies innovation, strategic thinking, and a forward-looking approach. Marisa’s passion, leadership, and commitment to advancing Plano’s profile in the Texas tourism landscape made her a standout recipient.
In addition, Marisa also achieved her Destination Management Specialist (DMS) certification at the conference. The DMS program is the educational framework of Destinations Texas, providing practical, hands-on training to strengthen the skills of those working in the destination management and convention and visitors bureau industry. This certification reflects Marisa’s dedication to professional growth and her leadership in shaping the future of destination management.
For nearly two decades, Marisa, also known as “MO on the Go,” has been making waves in the hospitality industry. Known for strategic thinking, fresh ideas, and an unmatched commitment to service, she has left a lasting impression in a remarkably short time. She has shared her knowledge as a podcast guest, webinar contributor, lunch-and-learn speaker, panelist, and moderator. Her service extends far beyond her job title; she mentors emerging hospitality professionals, serves on the MPI DFW Chapter Membership Committee, and finds ways to strengthen relationships with colleagues, partners, clients, and industry peers. Marisa has never met a stranger, radiates positivity, and is always scouting out the next great brunch spot. Congratulations, MO!
