National Dog Day - Visit Plano

UPDATE: See the latest post here.

Man’s best friend. Travel Companion. Food supervisor. Walking buddy. These are all traits of one of our favorite pets – a dog. Recently Plano was named the 15th Most Pet-Friendly City by WalletHub.

Aloft dog 1On this National Dog Day, we’d like to share pet-friendly hotels and restaurant patios as well as Plano’s Jack Carter Dog Park.

Aloft Plano is happy to welcome your dog, up to 40 pounds. Their pet-friendly ARF program offers a special dog bed, bowl, and a doggie bag of woof-alicious treats and toys, all complimentary to use during your stay. If your pup is over 40 pounds, call the hotel to discuss a waiver.

Jack Carter Dog ParkJack Carter Dog Park

Located at 2601 Pleasant Valley Drive is a recently renovated two-acre dog park. There are two separate play areas: one for big dogs, and one for dogs 30 pounds and less. Each play area has shade structures with bench seating and drinking fountains; dog rinse stations are also provided (but are turned off during winter months). LED lighting has been added for better visibility at night.

The dog park is open sunrise to 9:30 p.m. every day, except Thursdays, when the park is open from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It’s closed during and after inclement weather to protect the turf, and sometimes for a few days after until the ground dries. If you’re unsure, call 972-941-BARK to check park conditions.
