Downtown Plano at night

“All Aboard” for a special Downtown Heritage Tour that literally walks you back into the history of Downtown Plano’s fiery past. Yes, fires were so persistent, Plano unfortunately gained a national reputation for these devastating experiences.

This walking tour starts at the Interurban Railway Museum winding through current downtown and by buildings holding intriguing chapters of Plano’s past. Discover Downtown Plano’s charm of brick-lined streets and historic buildings today occupied by boutiques, unique restaurants, and businesses. In the heart of downtown, sits McCall Plaza, a live entertainment venue, a lovely park and gazebo, a farmers market, murals, theaters, historic homes, and so much more!

The tour is about two hours long and will require some stairs. Comfortable walking shoes, hats, and sunglasses are recommended. One water bottle will be provided for each attendee. The tour is recommended for ages 14+. Pricing is $12 per person. Tours are available Tuesday-Saturday, but special arrangements can be made for Sunday and Monday. Please call or email to book your tour.

About the Tour Director

The Explore Plano Tour Director, Mavis Everett, came to this spot in the road in 1982 when Plano was a mere 77,000 people (compared to nearly 280,000 today). While glitzy today, it was a four letter word called “dirt” that brought original settlers to this area. She currently resides across the street from the Rodney Haggard Farm, which is one of original Plano founding families. Indeed, it is still a functioning farm, cattle and more! Yes, she is a Texas native that loves her Plano lure and history and loves to share it even more with newbie’s and established residents alike.

Every journey starts with a step. Please, step this way.
