Chalk-art, live graffiti mural, art lessons, live music…. all this and so much more at the inaugural Plano Artfest on September 17 in the Downtown Plano Arts District!
Let your creativity loose at this FREE community event for families and art lovers of all types. Built around artistic inclusiveness, creative curiosities and cultural connection, Plano Artfest brings together the best creative talent North Texas has to offer ranging from artisan craftsmen to street buskers.
The event’s inaugural year will incorporate a week of community art programming that will include gallery exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts, a film feature on the history of the Texas Electric Interurban Railway by Johnnie J. Myers and Steve Allen Goen and a special engagement screening of Tim Burton’s Ed Wood and Big Eyes sponsored by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. In celebration of “Septemburton” month, Alamo Drafthouse will be featuring nearly all of the iconic director’s work in theaters, with the exception these two arthouse cult favorites which will be shown in the Downtown Arts District during Artfest week.
Artfest is on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in McCall Plaza, located at 998 E. 15th Street in downtown Plano. The festival will include an artist village of craftsmen and makers, performances from local arts groups, free family chalk-art, kid’s crafts, a live graffiti mural and an apprentice studio with hands-on art lessons. A full listing of the events and activities can be found on their website.
Food truck offerings and beer and wine will be available for purchase in McCall Plaza. For more information about Plano Artfest, please go to www.planoartfest.com.
