Q&A with Stephanie
Tell us a little about yourself.
I’ve been a Texan since age 2, but I was born in Atlanta. I am the third child, but the oldest daughter, so I have the best of both worlds. My sister and I are only 16 months apart, so as toddlers we were dressed as twins.
I am an extroverted introvert. I love a good party, but I also love to curl up and read mystery novels and listen to true crime podcasts. I am a proud dog mom to a sweet Cavapoo named Charlie, after my dad. I have 3 kids (2 boys and a girl) who I couldn’t be more proud of and I’m sad they are not little anymore, but now they are some of my best friends. My husband is the funniest and most generous man I know! We love to go boating and RVing together with our college friends. #gomeengreen
How long have you been with Visit Plano and what is your favorite part about working for Visit Plano?
I’ve been with Visit Plano almost 7 years! My favorite part of working for Visit Plano is the friendly people I meet working events. I’m not shy about asking people if I can take their photo and make them Instafamous! 📸
How many years have you been in marketing and what were your other roles outside of this career?
I’ve been in marketing for 20+ years. I started my career in real estate marketing, then owned a business as a home stager and interior decorator. I was an entrepreneur for 8 years and social media really helped me grow my design business. After my business was featured on several media outlets, my career took a different direction (again). After several years of social media marketing for golf courses, real estate, small businesses, and sports, I ended up in tourism at Visit Plano in a career I love.
What are some of your favorite things to do, see, and eat in Plano?
My favorite thing to do in Plano is happy hour with my friends and trying new restaurants. Some of my favorite happy hour drink and food spots are Mi Cocina (Mambo Taxi), Blue Fish (Blue Fish Tower, summer rolls, maki, and lots of small plates), and Haywire (Texas Meat & Cheese Board + the Chef’s Favorite 4 – Queso Blanco, Branding iron onion rings, mini elk tacos, and fried green tomatoes).
What are your favorite vacation destinations?
My favorite vacations have been to the Dominican Republic (honeymoon) and France (babymoon).
Guilty pleasure: What can you not live without?
I can’t live without good wine, boating, the beach, books, Gilmore Girls, coffee, strong brewed UNSWEET iced tea, true crime, and lip gloss.
What is an interesting fact about yourself?
I love teaching and mentoring. I also like making people laugh. I once dressed up as a sumo wrestler for a corporate function.
