The third annual Plano Artfest will take place in the Downtown Plano Arts District on Friday, April 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. This free, family-friendly festival showcases the work of local artists and provides an opportunity for visitors to experience traditional and contemporary forms of art.
Students and faculty from the University of Texas at Dallas Arts & Technology program will take part in Plano Artfest 2018, bringing a cardboard wearables fashion show and other new elements to the festival. Launching this year is the Technicolor Experience, presented by Capital One, which creates inspiration through innovation by combing artistry with technology in a unique installation. The Technicolor Experience will explore image mapping, installations from UTD’s PIRL lab, and a ‘talk back’ panel discussion.
Other Plano Artfest 2018 highlights will include performances from DFW artists and former The Voice star Hannah Kirby. Local arts and cultural groups will perform on the community stage during the festival on Saturday.
All of the Plano Artfest favorites will be back, like the annual Chalk It Up sidewalk competition. There will also be a variety of food vendors, a makers market, talented street buskers, and plenty of kid’s activities. The Smile Doctors Kids Zone will include yoga in Haggard Park, make-it-take-it crafts, and Kids Chalk It Up. There will also be a $5 entry area with bounce houses, rock climbing, and an arcade game truck.
