Legacy of Love 2024

The Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Medical Center Plano is excited to announce our 12th Annual Legacy of Love will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel Legacy West in Plano, benefiting Children’s Healthsm. Our community in North Texas is fortunate to have world-class pediatric care right in our backyard at Children’s Medical Center Plano. As one of the largest pediatric healthcare providers in the nation, Children’s Health cares for nearly 271,000 patients annually and provides over $30.3 million in charity care.

Serving as ambassadors, volunteers and fundraisers for Children’s Health, the Women’s Auxiliary is dedicated to making life better for children. Our steadfast support and unbreakable commitment has provided numerous uplifting activities for patients, their families, and appreciation for their dedicated hospital staff.  Our efforts are making a significant impact on aspects of healthcare including mental health initiatives, the beloved pet therapy program, neonatal care services, and social work. Together, we are raising a solid awareness of this stellar hospital throughout the community and beyond. This support is accomplished through community fundraisers such as Legacy of Love, and we are so proud to have given back $2 million to the Plano campus over the past 15 years.

Our upcoming Legacy of Love Benefit will feature a conversation with Joan Lunden, an award-winning journalist, bestselling author, motivational speaker, and health & wellness advocate. Joan has been a trusted voice in American homes for more than 30 years.  For nearly two decades, she greeted viewers each morning on Good Morning America, making her the longest running female host ever on early morning television.  Lunden is the host of the PBS television series, Second Opinion with Joan Lunden and the Washington Post Podcast series, Caring for Tomorrow on the future of healthcare. As a part of the sandwich generation, Lunden’s demographic is far-reaching. Like many Boomers in America, she has juggled being a working mom while caring for an aging parent.  One of the most visible women in America, Lunden has graced the covers of more than 60 magazines and book covers. Lunden continues to interact with Americans daily on her website, Joanlunden.com as well as her social media platforms. Lunden has served as national spokesperson for various organizations such as the American Heart Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, American Lung Association, American Red Cross, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Colon Cancer Alliance. Her life as a working mother of 7 and advocate relates to families of all generations.

This conversation will be moderated by one of our local favorites, Chuck Steelman. Chuck has over 30 years of experience in the fashion, retail, and real estate industries.  Currently, he serves as the Chief Customer and Experience Officer for Stanley Korshak. Chuck oversees all public relations, community partnerships, and experiential marketing for the Dallas based luxury retailer.  Previously, he spent 16 years with the Neiman Marcus Group where he founded and led the company’s VIP private client relations division, creating meaningful experiences for clients all over the world, including trips to New York, Paris, and Milan fashion weeks. During his time at Neiman Marcus, Steelman also worked in Corporate Public Relations and Special Events, where he produced hundreds of events each year across the Neiman Marcus Group portfolio.   During this time, he embraced the Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Medical Center Plano and has been a cherished supporter for over 10 years.  We are thrilled to welcome Chuck as our moderator for the 2024 Legacy of Love.

Legacy of Love will also offer both our coveted Luxury Raffle and fabulous Silent Auction.

Our 2024 theme, Heroes Helping Heroes, will be celebrating our youngest Heroes, the patient Ambassadors of Children’s Health.  Your support through personal attendance, sponsorship, and sharing the event with family and friends will contribute significantly to Legacy of Love’s successful outcome. We invite you to become a Legacy of Love Hero!
