06/13/2024 – Sounds of Africa- LEGACY WEST (In front of the Nike Store)
“Sounds of Africa.” African drummers and talented singers will be performing in front of the Nike store from 5pm to 8pm.
Last year’s event was phenomenal – come witness this amazing performance!
06/22/2024 – Juneteenth Celebration and Parade
The Plano Juneteenth Celebration will kick off with a parade featuring the Plano East Basketball Team State Champions and coaching staff at the forefront. The parade will also include various community organizations, car shows, and a procession of horses. Following the parade, the festivities will continue at the Plano African American Museum and the Boys and Girls Club in the historic Douglass community.
Attendees can enjoy live music, horse rides, a bounce house for kids, food trucks, a barbecue contest, and a variety of other exciting activities.
The Parade will kick off promptly at 11 AM at the theater parking lot in the courtyard located at 1509 H Ave, Plano. To secure your spot in the parade, please make sure to arrive by 10 AM. The Grand Marshals leading the parade will be The Plano East Basketball State Champions and their Coaching Staff. We are thrilled to have other teams, businesses, community members, and leaders from the East Side joining us in the parade.
The Plano Police will also be present, and don’t forget to come see the magnificent horses. Following the parade, a few of the horses will be available for rides directly accessible from the Boys & Girls Club at the end of the route.
