Q&A With Alysha

Q. Can you tell us a little about yourself, Alysha?

A. I am a sports girl at heart. From participating and watching to planning, I love it all. I’ve lived in Texas for 11 years. My husband and I are parents to our adopted fur-baby. I never pass up a road race with good swag.

Q. How long have you been with Visit Plano?

A. Since March 2020. Starting in this position right as the pandemic hit definitely shifted my approach to the role. What a ride it has been already!

Q. How many years have you been in the hospitality industry? What were your other roles?

A. 4 years. I was previously just down the street from our Visit Plano offices at the Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West as a Catering Sales Executive and Social Media Coordinator. Prior to that, I worked as a Special Events Programmer for the City of Frisco, and as Registrar/General Meeting Coordinator for the United Soccer Leagues.

Q. What is your favorite part about working for Visit Plano so far?

A. Sharing the city with others that over the last 10 years I have lived, worked, and played in! And of course, the people – clients, visitors, partners, residents, and co-workers. I am fortunate to be in a role where conversation comes naturally, and learning about people is half the fun. As COVID is winding down, I am looking forward to meeting with people face to face again.

Q. What have you found to be some of your favorite things to do in Plano?

A. Golfing at Ridgeview Ranch, movies at the Legacy Hall Box Garden, trying out the rotational taps at Taverna Rossa while indulging in their queso, and bringing the pup for walks at Oak Point Park Nature Preserve and Arbor Hills Nature Preserve.

Q. What has been your favorite vacation?

A. My mother and I have an annual tradition of running the Disney Princess Half Marathon together at Walt Disney World for the last 11 years, and that is always a weekend I look forward to every year. This past May, my husband and I traveled to Antigua after postponing due to COVID, and I must say, that may take the cake! What an amazing island with beautiful landscapes and people, and delightful food. Traveling post-COVID brought an entirely new perspective to vacation. We don’t ever visit the same place twice, but we’ll be breaking our own rules to go back.

Q. Guilty pleasure: What can you not live without?

A. Dunkin’ coffee. It’s in my New England DNA.

Q. What is an interesting fact about yourself?

A. I am a Walt Disney World fanatic and have auditioned to be a Disney face character!
