Favorite Plano Temptations: Bulla Gastrobar

Bulla Gastrobar Chef

We continue sharing the stories behind some of our favorite food in our next round of great food temptation videos from some amazing places in Plano.

So far we’ve enjoyed a wide variety of cuisine – we experienced Mexican cuisine then an American burger and champagne to Indian eats, and some hot chicken. We’ve even had a focus on ice cream and gelato! This month, we’re trying some Spanish fare from Bulla Gastrobar. Throughout the series, we’ll hear from these tastemakers in our community and discover where their passion comes from. Here on the blog, we’re going to take you behind the scenes every month!

Let’s go to Bulla Gastrobar!

Meet chef thomas

Let’s introduce Chef Teco Thomas, from Bulla Gastrobar, who likes his food fresh and full of garlic! Chef Teco says that Bulla Gastrobar is filled with delicious temptations that everyone can enjoy. In fact, he even claims that the dish he is sharing basically begs you to eat it. Seriously.

Bulla Gastrobar makes you feel like you’re in a real gastrobar in Spain. (Gastrobar translates to “establishment” in Spain.) Located in Legacy West, Bulla boasts an open kitchen design to set the mood with a fun, energetic atmosphere. Their emphasis is on quality gastronomic creations made with the best and freshest ingredients. Including tantalizing tapas, seasonal menus, hand-crafted cocktails, and an impressive wine list, Bulla is where you go to indulge in a celebration of good taste with great people.

All about the food

Tapas are small savory dishes. Typically diners will order several tapas to share with their table. This is a great way to try various items. A popular item on the tapas menu is their Huevos Bulla which are homemade potato chips, Serrano ham, potato foam, eggs, and topped with truffle oil. Another yummy option is the Patatas Bravas which are crispy potato cubes with a spicy brava sauce and an aioli dipping sauce. We also can’t get enough of the Chorizo Stuffed Dates. YUM! Dates with a house-made chorizo and Manchego cheese are then wrapped in bacon on top of an arugula salad. Or try octopus three different ways: grilled with a corn puree, grilled on a bed of salad, or crispy with a homemade tartar sauce.

Another fun appetizer for a group is their Chef’s Board served with Tetilla and Manchego cheese, Serrano ham, chorizo, walnuts, and olives.

As for entrees, a Spanish favorite is Paella, a Spanish rice dish. Choose from ribeye, seafood, chicken, and a mixta with calamari, clams, shrimp, chicken, and chorizo.

The Gambas Al Ajillo, or listed as Sautéed Garlic Shrimp on the menu, is Chef’s favorite dish because it promises an explosion of flavor and freshness. This dish is made with garlic, seven delicious plump shrimp, and a splash of brandy. Served with toasted bread, you’ll be craving more in no time. Enjoy your last few bites by dipping the crispy bread in the leftover sauce and voila, you’re in heaven.

Bulla serves brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert, as well as a happy hour menu for food AND drinks. Additionally, they offer a robust to-go menu so you can enjoy their food from the comfort of your own home.

Bulla offers dine in and takeout, as well as catering and private events.
