Where is Plano, Texas?

Plano is 15 miles north of Dallas.

How do I get to Plano?

Major airports are Dallas Ft. Worth International and Love Field Regional Airport.  Both are 22 miles from Plano. Major highways running north and south are Interstate 35 and U.S. 75. Major east and west highways are Interstate 20 and Interstate 30.

How do I find hotel rooms?

Visit Plano, the Plano Convention and Visitors Bureau, has set up a tournament hotel website. There are no commissions, rebates or housing fees associated with the hotels we offer. Here is a link to the hotel website: Hotels for GOLD Nationals

When can I book hotel rooms?

You can reserve your rooms now at Hotels for GOLD Nationals. Double rooms will go first and after that we will have plenty of king rooms with sleeper sofas. But to get the best rates and the most flexibility, you should book your team as soon as possible.

Our housing coordinator can set up a sub-block for your team. A sub-block will reserve rooms for each team and each player can make their own reservation and be assured of being in the same hotel.

*All teams reserving 10 or more rooms by June 22 will receive one free practice time/field, a $25 value.

What is the hotel reservation cut-off date?

June 22nd, at 5 p.m., all hotels will release un-booked rooms. If rooms are still available after the cut-off date, it is up to each hotel as to what rate they want to charge. If you think you may miss the cut-off date to book rooms, please reach out to our housing coordinator and she can help you plan for that. Email or call 972-941-5866.

Are these the best hotel rates we can get?

There are no add-ons on the rates and Visit Plano is handling lodging commission-free. We asked for lowest available rates, though on week nights, we are competing with corporate rates.

Can we stay in other hotels?

Our parks depend on the Hotel Occupancy Tax for maintenance and improvements and it is very important to stay where you play. Also, the state tourism grant will help fund GOLD Nationals and the amount of that funding is determined by attendance and hotel room nights. We have to turn in an accurate accounting of hotel rooms used.

We ask you to stay in a hotel within the Plano city limits so our city can gain the benefit of the economic impact of this event. If you prefer to stay in another hotel, please contact our housing coordinator at or 972-941-5866 and let us know the hotel name and address and your team name, so we can count your rooms.

How far are the fields from the hotels?

No hotel is over 13 miles away and most are well under 10 miles. You do not have to get on the highways to get the fields unless you just want to.

Do I need to rent a car to get around in Plano?

The short answer is yes. Of course, there are many auto rental options at the two major airports and there are also several rental options in Plano. If you prefer to rent away from the airport to try to get a better rate and need help finding those options, reach out to us and we’ll have a list of local Hertz, Enterprise, etc.

A lot of our hotels offer shuttle service within a five-mile radius of the hotel, but we suggest you do not depend on these to get to the fields on time. Hotel shuttles are generally run on a first-come-first serve basis and it may not be available when you need it.

Tell me about the Opening Party?

Opening party will be Sunday, July 15 at Jack Carter Pool from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. There will be food trucks and a DJ. This is a great way to cool-off and relax before the big games! Jack Carter outdoor pool features a lazy river, FlowRider (surfing/body boarding), water slides, leisure pool and a deep water pool with a climbing wall and cliff jumps. Also enjoy a photo booth with your teammates. Take photo booth fun to a new level with this magical, mirrored, interactive “selfie” experience in creating a photo keepsake using the USA Softball-approved SnapChap feature. There will be plenty of Instagram-able food and Snapchat worthy memories at the USA Opening Party!

Here’s a list of the amazing food trucks available at the party:

Just Encased Meats – the dream team of hand-crafted sausages in the Dallas-area. We are lucky to get them!

Ruthie Rolling Café – BBQ’d brisket with melted cheddar on sourdough. Enough said.

Urban Crust – fresh, crusty, delicious pizzas.  Yum!

Tin Star Taco Truck – one of the original street taco eateries in the Dallas-area has a food truck, now!

Steel City Pops – choose from fruity, creamy, cookie popsicles made with all fresh ingredients. The best!

When and where will team pictures be taken?

Official team photos will be taken before each team’s first game of the championship tournament. Please arrive at least an hour early to make time for the team photo.  And yes, you can take it after if you want. We will also have a fun photo booth at registration where teams can take individual or group photos for sharing with family and friends.

Will there be a hashtag for social media?

#PlayinPlano. We are excited to hear every team’s story through your photos and videos. Tag us at #PlayinPlano and you’ll be eligible to participate in the #PlayinPlano daily drawing. Every day of the tournament, we’ll randomly draw a winner for a $25 gift card to a local restaurant or attraction. So, come along and #PlayinPlano!
