Lord of the Flies – NTPA Plano

August 16, 2019 @ 7:15 pm - August 24, 2019 @ 7:15 pm

$10 – $12

Performed by an all youth cast and first published in 1954, William Golding’s debut novel, now a classic, is a stark story of survival, probing the depths of human nature, and what happens when civilization collapses. As dystopian stories like The Hunger Games and Battle Royale surge in popularity, this haunting tale of a group of young boys stranded on a desert island still captivates school children around the world, raising timeless and profound questions about how easily society can slip into chaos and savagery when rules and order have been abandoned.

Directed by Guest Director Jeff Swearingen. After almost two decades on the NTPA Director team, Jeff left to take his own production to off-Broadway which finished a successful run in the spring of 2018. Jeff is a highly regarded DFW actor/director with Column Awards (DFW’s equivalent to the Tony’s) for Revolutionizing Children’s Theatre, Best Director of a Play Non-Equity, Best Actor in a Play Non-Equity, Best Featured Actor in a Play Non-Equity, and Outstanding New Work by Playwright.

Credits: Written by Nigel Williams, adapted with permission from the novel by William Golding.
