Deerfield Holiday Lights 2019
December 1, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - December 30, 2019 @ 10:00 pm
Free
Deerfield’s holiday light season runs December 1-30th from 7 pm-10pm on weekdays and 7 pm-11pm on weekends. However, most homes turn their lights on at dark.
- We DO NOT have public restrooms. We are a neighborhood like any other, so please plan accordingly before visiting our neighborhood as you will wait in lines to see the lights and can get caught in traffic. Please DO NOT knock on residents’ doors to use their bathroom and please DO NOT use the restroom in a yard.
- Please DO NOT block alleys. Our residents need to get to their homes.
- Also, please keep music being played from your car at a respectable level as our residents still work during this season.
- Should you decide to walk the neighborhood, please park on a street at the far north part of Deerfield, close to Quincy Rd. and not on one of our busy streets as it will cause a major traffic jam.
- Please DO NOT get out of your car to take pictures as it causes problems with traffic as well.
Deerfield is in Northwest Plano between Preston Rd. and Coit Rd. There are many entrances to Deerfield. We highly recommend using a back entrance on busy nights. From Quincy, entrances like Bettye Haun Dr., Tweedsgate and Ivanhoe are less crowded. From Preston Meadow, Jenkins is a street you don’t want to miss. From Ohio, Adrian and Sundance are other ways to enter. From Legacy, you can enter on Colonnade or Archgate but be ready for LONG lines. Watch all signs, drive carefully and enjoy the holiday lights! VISIT STREETS LIKE Jenkins, Sundance, Hallmark, AND Mackey Court – great decorations with way less traffic!
Most lights will not turn on in the event of extreme rain, so please know that rainy nights are not the best nights to visit. For questions, please email info@deerfieldplano.org.
Vote for Your Favorites
For the third year, visitors can vote on their favorite decorated home. A great way to keep the whole family entertained! Please be sure to pay attention to what street you are driving on and vote.

The Story of Deerfield’s Tradition of Holiday Lighting
When Deerfield was being built, it was considered by many to be too far north on Preston Road. There were only fields north of the intersection of Park and Preston. The builders wanted to get people into the neighborhood to look at the homes, so for three or four Christmas seasons, they offered the homeowners a $5000 prize for 1st place, $2500 for second place, and $1000 for 3rd place. Also, there weren’t nearly as many families then as there are now so it was not unreasonable to win a prize. Several people got very competitive about it. People/pets were dressed in costumes and greeting people who drove through even giving out candy. Some people covered their lawns in cotton. Animation was very big. I remember one house had their teenage daughter get dressed in an angel costume and would stand in the front window and act like an animated figure. You had to look closely to realize it was a real person. The next year, everyone owned so many lights, they put them back up and the tradition began. *Story from a longtime Deerfield homeowner.
