2020 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Power Leadership Breakfast
January 18, 2020 @ 8:00 am
The 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Power Leadership Breakfast is planned for Saturday, Jan. 18, beginning at 8 a.m. at Collin College’s Plano Campus (Spring Creek) Living Legends Conference Center. This annual celebration of Dr. King’s life and work is free and open to the public.
This year’s theme for the breakfast is “2020: Hindsight, Insight, Foresight.” The breakfast will include presentations and student performances sharing Dr. King’s message with a special address by Dr. Clay Brantley.
Brantley is a Presbyterian pastor who has lived in McKinney for 25 years. He is the director of the Retreat House Spirituality Center in Richardson and an author, speaker, artist, retreat leader, and spiritual guide. One of Brantley’s passions is dismantling racism. In 2018, he attended the Faith Forward Civil Rights Pilgrimage, and he often speaks and leads conversation on racism.
“The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Power Leadership Breakfast is a very important event for the community,” said Dr. Millie Black, event co-chair. “The fundamental ideals of community, love, equality, and fairness that Dr. King stood for continue to resonate throughout the breakfast event. I am incredibly grateful for the legacy of Dr. King and more importantly, I am grateful for the opportunity to do my part in making the ‘dream’ he embodied a reality.”
A business and information expo will take place immediately following the Power Leadership Breakfast in the Plano Campus (Spring Creek) atrium. The public is invited to visit with local vendors and nonprofit organizations. The Plano Campus (Spring Creek) is located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway.
