Bridges ’22 — A Collaboration Festival by Garage Arts Project
September 10 @ 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Bridges is an annual collaboration festival hosted by the Garage Arts Project, featuring curated works of talented professional artists from Texas, that are both interdisciplinary and collaborative.
The second edition of the Bridges Collaboration Festival is taking place on September 10th at ArtCentre of Plano (and November 6th at Sunset Coffee Building Plaza, Houston). The event will feature four performances, each a commissioned, multidisciplinary collaboration between Texas-based artists, spanning genres ranging from hip-hop to Bharatanatyam to Flamenco guitar to Taiko drums, making it a one-of-a-kind experience.
The event is partially funded by the City of Plano – Small Arts Grant 2022 and Dance Source Houston – GroundWork Grant, to further the Garage Arts Project’s goal of transforming local communities through artistic engagements and creative expressions. A social mixer will precede the show where the audience will get to meet with artists and other art supporters in the community.
This year’s festival will feature artists from Dallas and Houston who will be presenting diverse collaborations. The lineup includes:
1. A dance and visual art collaboration by Brandy Michele Adams, Marissa Michelle, Judge “Mr. Wow” Brandon, Alan “Canvas” Nguyen, Emi Matsushita – Conversations
2. A cross-genre dance collaboration featuring Plano-based Indian classical dance company Tejas Dance and Houston-based modern dancer, Adam Castenada.
3. A strings and percussion collaboration featuring Houston-based flamenco guitarist Jeremy Garcia and Dallas-based Indian percussion artists – Praveen Thiagarajan, Kushal Venkatesh
4. A Indian Dhol and Japanese Taiko drum ensemble featuring Goisagi Daiko, Shivam Dhol Tasha Pathak
Bridges ‘22 is a wonderful celebration of the diverse and culturally rich communities we live in.
Garage Arts Project is also proud to work with My Possibilities, a local nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. All proceeds from Bridges ’22 fundraising campaign will be matched and donated to My Possibilities for their PERFORMING & VISUAL ARTS elective, called The Create Program which provides an opportunity for students to engage in both individual creativity as well as group performances.
