Visit Plano Team Member Spotlight: Liz Navarette

Name: Liz Navarette

Title: Convention Services Coordinator

How long have you been with Visit Plano?

Almost a year. I was an intern for four months before taking on the Convention Services Coordinator role.

What is your favorite part about working for Visit Plano so far?

I really enjoy doing housing for sporting events! It’s fun to work with all the hotels and the teams to get ready for a big tournament.

What is one of your favorite things to do in Plano?

Eat! Plano has about 1,000 restaurants and I want to try them all! My favorite thing to order is cheese, whether it’s melted in a queso cup or served on a charcuterie board. Some of the best cheese plates I’ve had in Plano were at North Italia, Detour in Legacy Hall, Urban Crust, and Cru Food and Wine Bar. On The Border remains my number one for queso. I also like to take my dog out to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve to walk and run when the weather is nice.

What has been your favorite vacation?

Last May I got to take a 3-week post-graduation trip to Europe with my twin brother and four of my oldest friends. We back-packed our way through Dublin, Munich, Budapest, Athens, Mykonos,  Florence and Barcelona. I got to see so many incredible destinations and historical landmarks like The Cliffs of Moher, Dachau Concentration Camp, The Parthenon, The Duomo Cathedral and Basilica de La Sagrada Familia. And I got to eat a lot of cheese plates in Italy.

Guilty pleasure: What can you not live without?

Ridiculously, I love all the Bachelor and Bachelorette shows! What can I say, Chris Harrison makes sure every new season is the most dramatic. It’s also the one weeknight my friends and I make sure to set aside so that we can watch the drama together.

What is an interesting fact about yourself?

My favorite vacation destination is the beach; it’s my first choice for a trip at any and all times. I’m really lucky to have visited some beautiful beaches too! However, I never get in the water. I’m not scared of the ocean and I know how to swim, but I still just don’t get in.
