Plano Loves Pups: Celebrate National Dog Day

Dog

Man’s best friend. Travel buddy. Food supervisor. Walking partner. On this National Dog Day, we’re sharing ways to enjoy Plano with your furry companion.

Bring your leashed-dog to Downtown Plano’s Movies in the Park (tonight 8/26!), Haunt Jaunt, Steinfest (there’s even a dachshund fashion show), Plano International Festival, seasonal outdoor concerts at The Shops at Willow Bend, and the various live music events at McCall Plaza in downtown.

Jack Carter Dog Park

Located at 2601 Pleasant Valley Drive is a recently renovated two-acre dog park. There are two separate play areas: one for big dogs, and one for pups 30 pounds and less. Each play area has shade structures with bench seating and drinking fountains; doggie rinse stations are also provided (but are turned off during winter months). LED lighting has been added for better visibility at night.

The dog park is open sunrise to 9:30 p.m. every day, except Thursdays, when the park is open from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It’s closed during and after inclement weather to protect the turf, and sometimes for a few days after until the ground dries. If you’re unsure, call 972-941-BARK to check park conditions.
