Plano Hospitality Community Lends a Hand for North Texas Giving Day

North Texas Giving Day

In honor of North Texas Giving Day, Plano hotel partners collected unused shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, body wash, toothbrushes and toothpaste from the Plano hotel properties. The group, consisting of Plano hotel and Visit Plano employees, brought the donations to two non-profit organizations, City House and Hope’s Door.

“This is a wonderful way for the Plano hospitality community to give back to those in need,” Visit Plano executive director Mark Thompson said. “We appreciate our hotel partners demonstrating support of North Texas Giving Day.”

The mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter and transitional residential services to at-risk children and young adults in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness. Hope’s Door helps families affected by domestic violence by offering intervention and prevention services as well as education programs that enhance the community’s capacity to respond. Both nonprofits benefit from North Texas Giving Day. This North Texas-wide philanthropic event was created in 2009, and is one of the first—and is the largest—community-wide giving days in the country. According to NorthTexasGivingDay.org, North Texas Giving Day raised $33 million in 2015 through more than 118,000 gifts, benefiting 2,020 nonprofits.
