There are many things us Texans all agree on…
- There ain’t no ifs, ands, or buts about it, there is nothin’ slang about the word “y’all.”
- We all come from different faiths, but football is our religion.
- Things are intentionally bigger in Texas (i.e. homecoming mums, hair, football stadiums, steaks… you get the picture).
- When it comes to food, Texas chili doesn’t have beans, all carbonated beverages are called “Coke” (unless you’re in Plano where Dr Pepper reigns king), BBQ’s are not for cooking hot dogs and hamburgers, and what’s fried just tastes better.
There’s one more thing that is very popular among us Texans and that is street tacos. Street tacos you ask?
Yes, they are different from your run-of-the-mill hard shell with ground beef topped with cheese and tomatoes. There are usually several different meats to choose from like carnitas (roasted pork), barbacoa (shredded beef), pastor (pork), pollo (chicken), carne asada (grilled beef), and lengua (cow tongue). Street tacos are usually served on corn tortillas with raw onion, cilantro, and lime wedges.
Whether you’re a street taco connoisseur or a newbie, here is a list of some of Plano’s street taco joints:
